Budget Town Hall with Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers MP

On October 6, the Morrison Government will reveal their long-awaited 2020-2021 federal budget.

I want to hear your views and share with you Labor’s vision for a recovery centred on people and creating secure jobs for our future.

I hope you can join Labor’s Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers MP and me for a special virtual Budget Town Hall event.

Jim Chalmers and I, as your federal MP, have been arguing for months now that we need a comprehensive plan for economic recovery that prioritises jobs and job creation, investment in clean energy and adequate support for people doing it tough.

Instead, since the beginning of the pandemic, the federal government has actually excluded many people and businesses from support.

And we are still waiting on a feasible plan to get the majority of Australians back to work and our economy moving again.

More and more people are telling me they feel that the federal government has left Victorians behind and I couldn’t agree more. As the rest of the country gets back to normal, Victorians now more than ever need the federal government to step up.

But the Morrison Government has just cut Job Keeper and Job Seeker. These cuts negatively impacted nearly 40,000 people in Wills.

I want to give you the opportunity to share your thoughts on what you think the federal government should be doing and also hear about Labor’s alternative ideas for our economic recovery.

I hope you can join Jim Chalmers and me for this important discussion.

If you have any questions about this event or if this anything else I can assist you with, please email me at Peter.Khalil.MP@aph.gov.au or call my office on (03) 9350 5777.

Kind regards,

Peter Khalil MP
