Wills Electorate: Queen’s Birthday Honours 2018

18/06/2018

Peter Khalil: I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate those in my electorate of Wills who were inducted into the Order of Australia on the Queen’s Birthday this year. Jill Bilcock AC was recognised for her service to the Australian film industry. Ms Bilcock was recognised as a role model for aspiring editors and praised for her contribution to Australia’s cultural identity. Neville Sillitoe OAM was recognised for his service to athletics. Mr Sillitoe has coached many successful Olympians, including Gary Holdsworth, Greg Lewis and the incredible Peter Norman. Shirley Jones-Griffin OAM was recognised for her service to the performing arts, particularly in the field of ballet. Dr Terence Ahern OAM was recognised for his service to medicine—Dr Ahern works out of a local medical office in Brunswick. Robert Gottliebsen AM was recognised for his services to print, media and education. Mr Gottliebsen is a regular contributor to The Australian and Business Spectator, and has spent more than 30 years commentating on business and investment in Australia. These people join a select group of inductees to our unique Australian honour system.

My electorate of Wills is a wonderfully diverse electorate. It really gives me great pleasure to know that such great people call our electorate home. These inductees represent and demonstrate excellence in our society, and they support their local communities. We’re all better for their activities, their passion and their commitment to others. And, as their federal representative, I want to extend my appreciation, acknowledge their hard work and thank them for their extensive service to our electorate of Wills, our community and the nation.
