Forum with Linda Burney, Labor’s Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians

At this event, Linda will discuss Federal Labor’s plan to implement the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full if a Federal Labor government is elected at the federal election in May. This event will also provide the opportunity to ask Linda questions and share your views.

Federal Labor is the only political party committed to enacting the Uluru Statement in full and if elected a Federal Labor Government will work with Indigenous Australians to realise the calls for Truth, Treaty & Voice.

An elected Federal Labor Government will establish a Makarrata Commission to oversee a process of truth-telling and developing a framework for a treaty-making process. We will also empower First Nations Australians to have a greater say in the decisions, laws and polices that affect them by enshrining a First Nations voice to Parliament in the constitution.

After originally rejecting the Uluru Statement, the Liberal-National Government has failed to achieve any genuine reform for Indigenous Australians after almost 9 years in office.

An Albanese Labor Government with Linda Burney as a Minister won’t just talk about measures to achieve reconciliation and improve the autonomy and outcomes for Indigenous Australians – we will actually do it.

I hope you can join me and Linda for this important discussion.
