Peter Khalil Will Be Meeting with Hong Kong Student Representatives in Melbourne

25/09/2019

PETER KHALIL
MEMBER FOR WILLS

Peter Khalil MP will be meeting with Hong Kong student leaders on Thursday (26 September) about the ongoing instability in Hong Kong and their experiences on campuses in Australia. This meeting coincides with the months of unrest in Hong Kong and follows the protest that the Victorian Hong Kong Students Association held in August which descended into violence after other protestors derailed their demonstration.

Peter Khalil MP has advocated for the democratic rights and freedoms of Hong Kongers to protest peacefully.

He has also called on democratic leaders in Australia and around the world to stand up for the right to peaceful protest and democratic freedoms in Hong Kong because if democratic leaders don’t stand up for democracy, who will?

The meeting will be with six representatives of the Victorian Hong Kong Students Association from tertiary campuses across Victoria.

The meeting will be held at 3pm on Thursday 26 September at Room Mary Cooke A, Union House, University of Melbourne, Parkville. For more information or if you’d like to attend to conduct interviews and take photographs with the participants, please contact:
